Even the ancient Egyptians made use of early forms of concrete over 5,000 years ago. To this day, the incredible pyramids are still a point of controversy between experts and historians debating over the method of their construction with giant concrete slabs that would seemingly be impossible to move with the technology available to Egyptians at the time. What they do know is that concrete is the reason we are able to view and visit these structures today. If even earlier forms of concrete can last for thousands of years, modern mixtures are even stronger and more reliable.
Between sidewalks, driveways, and buildings, almost every person interacts with concrete slabs in some way on a daily basis. When properly constructed by commercial concrete contractors, permeable concrete, including structures such as pools, patios, and walkways, can last anywhere from 20 to 40 years due to their ability to handle drastic temperature impacts. Even in locations that experience harsh winters, this durable material can survive severe ice and hail.
